Jessica Kaufman

Jessica Kaufman began her crafts career as a knitter, then her love for color on fabric grew and now she spends most of her time in the world of traditional batik and contemporary fabric dyeing techniques. Jess earned a Masters degree in Crafts Education in 2008, and has spent the last twenty+ years teaching a variety of craft genres up and down the East Coast. The Folk School Craft Shop features Jess’s batik work done with hand carved batik woodblocks that she learned to use in western Gujarat, India, in 2018. See Jess’s annual dye classes in the Folk School catalogue, or book your own workshop at her Asheville studio,
