Karen Swing, Surface Design Artist
Karen Swing is a multi-media fabric artist who uses a combination of hand-dyeing, printing, and surface design techniques. She started her creative life at the age of seven, making pot-holders on her mother’s sewing machine and hasn’t stopped making art since! Karen has been a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild since 1992 and teaches at the John C. Campbell Folk School. Her artful garments and accessories reflect her love of nature and vibrant colors.
“It never occurred to me to be anything but an artist. I guess that working in textiles and creating my marks on a sewing machine was in my DNA.” Karen Swing
