Deborah Bryant, Weaver

Deborah Bryant has been a weaver for more than 30 years. Growing up in New Jersey she learned to knit and crochet from her mother and grandmother who inspired her love for creating with fiber. Deborah went on to study at Warren Wilson College and train in weaving at the Professional Crafts program at Haywood Community College. In 1984 she moved with her husband to the Cashiers area of North Carolina where she raises her family and runs her studio.

Her work begins with the inspiration of a landscape, a flower, an animal or some aspect of nature captured in a photo. She then dyes yarns to match the natural colors and takes those yarns to the loom where she weaves her well known shawls and scarves.

Due to the variations in computer monitors, colors may be appear a slightly different shade than the true article.
