Cherokee Carving

In Cherokee Carving, Anna Fariello delves into the traditional craft of woodcarving done by Cherokee artists and Elders. This book in the “Hands of our Elders” series Includes pictures, history and descriptions of handcrafted pipes, masks, figures, and bas relief. This book will strive to inspire another generation of scholars and artists; to learn from these Elders and reflect on the value of their stories and traditions.

Anna Fariello is an author, curator, scholar with many outstanding awards. She was also an Associate Professor at Western Carolina University’s Hunter Library. She has written many books with a traditional craft and history focus, shedding light on Appalachian heritage arts and crafts including her “Hands of our Elders” series that focuses on Cherokee basketry, carving and pottery.
